HDNet, NFL St, MLB EI and WNBA League pass (yecch). Is that pretty much the main difference (programming-wise)?
Picture qualityand sound quality are better on DirecTV and MusicChoice is much better than Musak.

Oxygen on DTV Superstations ON DISH
I curently have both services, and there is very little if any difference in the PQ between the 2. Also, I find Muzak to have a lot more variety in their playlists than MusicChoice. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste.

These are the main channel difference between the two currently, I might have missed one or two channels, but for the most part it is correct.

The main advantage of Dish Network is not the channels you talk about, but the ethnic content. Dish not only wants to grab market share of true blue Americans, but also the immigrants market. This is where Dish blow out DirecTV:
Russian, Italian, French, Chinese, Portugese, Brazilian, Arabic, Israeli, Dutch, Japanese, French, Polish, etc.
DirecTV, on the other hand, only has 1 ethnic package: Chinese.
Of course, Dish also has the sports package targeted towards the immigrant market: cricket.
In other words, if you are an immigrant, you want programming from your old country, you get Dish Network, no ifs and buts. I've heard of a whole apartment of Russian immigrants in L.A. getting Dish only for the 3 Russian channels, pay the extra $5 maintaince fee for not subbing a basic package.
There is also the Superstation package primarily for Americans but that's minor.

Be careful of the claim that PQ is better on DTV unless you are able to do a side by side comparison. Many report there is very little difference.

There are only three differences that make me want to stay with DirecTV for the time being... NFL Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings and HDNet....
As Chris said, most channels PQ are about the same. I don't think at this point PQ is a factor between choosing a provider.

Whatever system you choose, get a intergrated PVR on your receiver. You will be glad you did.

I agree Z'Loth, PVR has made our dish experience totally awesome.
