How do I connect 3 satellites (the 110, 119 and 61.5) together without going the dish500 route? Can I stick a SW42 between the 110 and 119 and then connect that output to the 61.5? Or instead of a SW-42 can I use something smaller (and preferably cheaper too)? Thanks

Take advantage of DISH 500 upgrade unless you can't receive 110 & 119 from the same location. If you have locals on the 61.5 take advantage of the FREE DISH for locals from DISH Network other wise plan on spending money. Dish Pro will get you what you want but you will need 3 LNBFs at $79 ea. a DP 34 switch at $119 and for each Legacy receiver you want to connect a DP adapter at $69.00

The person I'm helping doesn't have any dishpro stuff at all (he doesn't even have a dishpro-capable receiver). So that's out of the question. Will the SW-42 work? I heard it's the one switch right above the SW-21.

I run 3 independant dishes - 110, 119, 61.5 to remove rain fade (24 & 36" dishes). I use a SW64. But, I think you can use a SW42 and 2 SW21s, this will give you 2 recievers. Put 119 &110 on sw42, then connect a sw21 to 61.5 and the output of the sw42. It would look like a legacy twin sw21 configuration.

What kind of problems have you had with DP equipment?

Why not just find a SW64 and attach the two outputs from each of the three dishes? This will give you all that you want plus allow you to add receivers later.

I'd do that in a second, but this has to be a fix with low $$ input. SW64's are around $150, are they not? Any idea if the SW42 or SW44 would work just as well. There will only be 1 receiver right now(and for the foreseeable future), since there is only 1 tv to begin with.

I am not Jack but I will tell you the problems I have with dishpro.

1. DishPro is useless in a dwelling that does not have comaptible RG-6.

2. DishPro is useless in a commercial installation(which was what DishPro was meant for anyway because of the switch stacking you can do.) because of apartment buildings having incompatible wire.

3. The failure rate on DishPro dual LNB's is enormous.

4. Every component you use has to be swept tested to at least 2.2 Ghz, bringing more cost to the install charges.

Just 4 examples....

People tend to rag on DishPro a great deal. The fact is, DishPro uses the worldwide standard Diseq, whereas Legacy does not. I have not found any issues with costs relating to 2.2 Ghz components. Our supplier stopped supplying the old stuff and the costs are the same. I have also found that DishPro will work with RG6 not rated to 2.2 Ghz if the lengths of the runs are not to long. DishPro is not meant for commercial installations in older buildings. It is useful in small buildings that won't need more than 24 receivers installed. In most apartment complexes, the wiring is looped anyways or is of such poor quality, it needs to be replaced anyways. Consequently, either the complex needs to be rewired or alternatively, a QAM system will be needed.
