If you want to see some great PQ..

Check out channel 561 right now, the Cavaliers/Kings game. This is the best PQ for a basketball game I have ever seen on DBS. The court is sharp, each board in the floor are even clearly visible. No pixelation whatsoever. If PQ is this good every night for NBA League Pass, Dish will get my money without a doubt!

Yeah it is good PQ. It is a good example of what they can do if they want to throw a few bits at the problem. Too bad they dont have that PQ on every channel.

Very nice picture. I suspect that will change once they have other games going at the same time. The audio level on the announcer is WAY low in comparison to othe channels and when the music comes on during advertising breaks it is too loud.

It's very cool to see the broadcast from WUAB 43 in Cleveland. It's nice get this instead of the usual Fox Sports presentation of a game. Kinda weird though how during commercials the game cuts to a black screen with the NBA logo with some rock Muzak playing. Is there a reason why these commercials can't be shown? I assume this is only a problem for the OTA games correct?

OTA games and Comcast Sports Net Phlly games have the commercials blacked out most likely do to legalities between the league/team and station. I like the rock music in the background, a LOT better then contemporary instrumentals on the not in use channels, IMO :)

Is Dish providing this music during the commercial breaks or is the NBA doing these blackouts themselves? I noticed the NHL slates look exactly like the NBA slates on the not in use channels, so I assume Dish is the one doing those?

Yea, I've always felt that about NBA LP and NFL ST. MLB EI doesn't seem to have a better picture, most likely because they just use the FSN feeds (correct me if I'm wrong).

Right on, the picture is better than my local OTA digital channel. When they show a Blazer's game, the wood floor looks like hay during a fast break.

Remember most channels on Dish Network are on at least a 12 to 1 compression radio (Meaning there are 12 channels using 1 transponder space)

However the NBA has 11 channels and is spread across 2 transponders, so basicly you are seeing a 5 to 1 compression ratio!

That is why the picture looks so dang good!

I just got done watching The Shining on FX. It was stunning. Maybe they were just conditioning us for poor PQ, and I expected it to be bad, especially at the end. When Jack Torrance is chasing his son Danny through the maze, its dark, with fog/low clouds, with flood lights. I saw no artifacts. It was amazing. If it could stay this good, I would be impressed.

I have to say that I get equal PQ on all my channels as I saw on the NBA channels. Have been with Dish since Oct. of 97 and PQ has always been great.
