Are the locals supposed to be mapped to their proper low numbers (like 2,3,5,7 etc) on the 508 like they are on my 721?

Yes. But if the unit is new, it can take a day or so for the unit to actually start doing that. I don't know what the magic incantation is, but something needs to be triggered on the unit from the satellite. Turn the unit off tonight and perhaps when you get up in the morning it will be ready.

I agree with Tony - sounds like you don't have the most recent software on your 508. Leave it off overnight, and you should have it the next day.

You need software rev 165. Hit your System Info button and see what yours is. If it is not 165 make sure you power it off so it can receive the update. 166 is the latest.

Got home today and 166 software is now there, AND locals are mapped to low numbers. YES!
