I currently have the non-MPEG4 setup with the oval dish, HD Tivo, 8 port multiswitch, and an OTA antenna. I've been reading all the upgrade related stuff but it's getting a little confusing. So basically what do I need? Will DirecTV provide another compatible multiswitch? I've also read that diplexors don't work with the new dish setups. Is this still correct? If so, what's the best way to get my antenna signal to my receivers?

Directv will install and 5 LNB dish and you will need a Zinwell WB68 multi-switch and Directv will supply it for free. Just make sure it is on your work order.

Do you have another HD receiver as well, or just the HD Tivo? I ask because I have HR10-250, HR20 and H20 as well as several SD Tivos. When installer arrived, he tried putting a second 6x8 Multiswitch cascaded with the original to give 12 total output. Unfortunately, the 8 lines coming out of the second switch were unable to produce an HD signal, leaving me with only 4 of the 5 HD cables I needed for my 3 receivers. Local installer is coming back out with a 6x16 later this week. If you need more than 8 total lines and 4 HD lines, make sure you get them to give you a 6x16.

The WB68 is not supposed to be cascaded because as you found it often does not work. The WB616 is the best solution, although having four wideband splitters (power passing on both legs) and driving two WB68s in parallel works also.

Can my existing multiswitch be installed after the WB68? I would like to keep the OTA HD going into my HD Tivo and I need to diplex the signal. Currently I don't need more than 8 outputs but would need to run more cables if I can't diplex the OTA signal.

You can use 4 of the outputs from the WB68 and cascade them into your old MS.
