I've been going through hell trying to simply get an authorized installer to give our restaurant an estimate for installation. And it's not like we're in the north pole (though we might be better off) -- we're in NYC. I contacted all 6 recommended installers that Dish passed on. Either no return call or failed to keep an appointment. I'm very persistent, so it's not like I left just one message. So I called Dish HQ & s/w a higher up who gave me the name of another installer Dish 'R US (not a comforting name). A half dozen calls and an appt. was finally set up. Day of the appt. came and went, now no return calls. No return calls from Dish exec.
First question --- would I be better off with Direct? I'm a Dish home subscriber and went with the familiar. I know little about Direct TV. Otherwise, any recommendations? Thanks, glenn.
With directv . You the same thing as you with dish . Directv will have someone hook everything up . I have been with directv since 2000 . Never hadany problems . I am in Wisconsin . We get teh same weather as you in NYC do . Dish and Directv both loss the signal during severe storms .

If you would post or email me your info, i can get you in touch with a good retailer/installer up there
If you are in NYC, choose DirecTV as you can get YES Network and sports packages like NFL and NBA. Also, you only need one dish for all your locals (Dish requires 2 in NYC to get the wing sat).
You will also be able to get NYC locals with both, but my guess is your customers will want sports, regardless of the type of venue.

Be aware, since you are a commercial install, that the monthly rates will be higher than for a residential install.
Since you are in NYC, go with DirecTV because of the YES network.

Thanks for the responses. As per the suggestions here, I decided to go with Direc TV because of the local sports. Fwiw, here's my email to dish....

I decided to get a TV for my restaurant in NYC. Cable is not available in my bldg., so I figured I'd go with the familiar Dish, since I have that at home. Little did I know that Dish did not have any desire to do business with me. I would like to know why.
I called all the authorized companies in the NYC area recommended by Dish customer service. For the most part, I left messages which were never returned. Not one message, but two. One company made an appt. for an estimate but never showed. Follow up calls resulted in no return calls to messages. So then, I made a frustrated call to Dish. I was given the
executive in charge of corporate installations, Mr. Rayl. He referred me to Dish 'R Us, specifically, Ray. After several messages, Ray finally returned my call. We made an appt. for an estimate. The usual occurred, he failed to show. A follow up call the next day and he said he got tied up, but no apology. He said he'd come out that day. Next day I called and he said he was there (??) and would fax an estimate. Hardy har har. Of course he never did. Follow up calls went unreturned. So I figured Mr. Rayl would straighten this out. Two messages in 2 days, and no return call.
I'm so fed up with this situation I'm ready to throw out my residential system and get DirecTV, which is what I'm doing for the restaurant now. Thank God the merger didn't go through. I'd be left completely in the dark if it did, and I plan to tell the powers that be of this situation. I find the entire situation to be incredible. If you didn't want to deal with us, why not just say so from the onset, like the cable company did??

See if you can find a dealer in your area. Preferably, I would recommend 3rd Millinimum or ClearComm Communications if they are in your area
