Thanks for all the great posts and help as I come out of the cave to the new world of HD. I am Directv/tivo user since '97 and due to home remodeling project that requires me to move my phase II dish I have decided to upgrade. Had a 20 minute conversation w/ directv and got free install and free upgrade to HR20, Zinwell WB68 and Ku/Ka dish. My question is that I have read the HR-20-InstallationTips and it mentions that I should ensure I get a Slimline dish. I tried to get confirmation from the local installer (Northern VA) on what model dish they will install but I can't get a definitive answer. Question - What dish should insist on getting? I see it is either AT9 or AU-9(Slimline) - does it matter which one?

Installation is scheduled for 6-8AM on July 4th

Here's hoping the lack of dual lb and ff features don't make me regret my decision to leave my beloved tivo

Thanks

It does not matter what dish you get. I have the AT-9 with no problems. You will probably get a slimline because that is what almost everyone gets now. So unless your install company has a AT-9 laying around you won't get one.

Agree with BmoreRavens above...I don't think they install anything but the slimline anymore.

and, install could be at 6:00 am??? wow, that is early!

I have never had Tivo, but I do love my HR20s [I have 3 of them]. They are getting better and better with each software upgrade! :)

Cheers and enjoy,
John

you should get a slimline, and it is hard to go from tivo to the hr20, but you will get used to it. i did, and they are nice dvr's.

I don't think you'll be able to insist getting a certain type of dish.

It'll probably be a slimline.
