Old 6000 receiver

I recently upgraded to the HD pack and added a Vip622. I still have a 6000 subscribed and hadn't been using it with the 622 online. Well yesterday I checked on the 6000 and it seemed to be receiving all of the HD channels which I thought was not possible (ie Dish told me I would need a new Mpeg4 receiver for the HD pak).

Am I missing something?
Not that I would return it but why did I need the 622?

At this time a 6000 still picks up about half the HD channels. Those that are MPEG2. In August, 10 of the voom channels will switch to mpeg4 and you will lose them. All new HD channels have beeen added in MPEG4 and probably the remaining HD Mpeg2 channels will all be converted to mpeg4 at some date. Probably sooner than later.

Most of those are locals. So normally you will pick up at most 4 (ABC,CBS,FOX,NBC) that are in you DMA. I've lost count, but its something like 32 national HD. If your lucky you get 4 LOCal and 1 or 2 RSN in hd as well. Of those you could get the 6000 sees only about 1/2.
