I'm getting the free installation of the second dish on Sunday - does anyone know how long it takes? I'm just concerned about how long my signal will be down, not so much the total installation time. There's a football game I want to watch, and with my luck the guy will show up right at a critical moment.
Thanks,
Dennis
Mine took about 30 minutes, from the time he knocked on my door, to time he said goodbye.
Mine also took about 30 minutes. He will mount and aim the dish (my guy had a battery powered signal strength meter) then mount whatever switch is necessary to couple the two dishes. At this point he will have to disconnect your receiver, reconnect the new lines and then go to the receiver and recheck the signal strength and then perform a check switch and you should be done. If you have other receivers he will likely do the check switch on all of them to make sure everything is working ok.

Depends on your current configuration. If you have 2 recievers it takes just a short time assuming a clear view of the wing sattelite.
If you have more than 2 it takes a while longer because the have to install a new switch.

I just have one 721, so essentially two receivers. Thanks for the replies.

It depends on your installer....
My guy came back in after 90 minutes "ok, all done!"
So I do a quick check - "How come it says Wrong Sat 119?"
"Ummm.... " he says
I step outside - "Isn't 61.5 THAT way? Thats why we put this dish on the other side of the roof - the tree was in the way..."
"Oh junk....."
Another 45 minutes later with my supervision (and I had guests over) things were worked out :)
He also was short two bolts on the dish so it will break off in the next windstorm... not to mention it took about 7 holes drilled before he got one that would hold. I also had to lend him all my tools, he didnt have a ratchet set, and find some bolts for him that were long enough....!! what an ass...

Typical....
I use to hear stories like this from all over the country when I was a dealer.
The most hilarious story ever was: A guy called me to mail order a Dish system after he moved. He remarked that the "Local" Dish dealer installed his first system. I remarked, Oh , did he close up shop ?. The customer said nope, his shop ( home ) burned down and now he is also in prison  ;) :D

Well it ended up taking over 3 hours and it's still not quite right. I have a 721, which the guy had never seen, but it shouldn't matter, it's the same as getting it hooked up for two receivers, right? He finally got it to the point where one of the tuners can see the 148 satellite and gets the extra locals but not the other. He put in a dishpro 34 switch, does anyone know why I can't get the extra locals on both tuners, other than the installer's incompetence?
Dennis
But, most importantly, did you get to see the game?

Are you sure you have DISHPRO LNB's for 148, 119, AND 110 ?

I have no idea what LNBs are on there. As for the game, I had to pull the rabbit ears out for most of it.
