Hi,

We had the roofers come in today to put in some sky lights to one of the attic rooms. Working on the roof at one moment they must have hit or moved one of the two Dishes because we lost signal on both receivers to half of the channels. I think it's the 61.5 and 110 signal that is gone.

I checked outside and indeed see that that Dish is not pointing straight at a building in the back of our house versus in the sky.

Called Dish, the earliest they can shell someone out is July 4th?

Pending I can get on the roof, would it be possible for me to realign the satellite dish?

Thanks,
George

If there in an area that its easy and safe for you to reach, doing the alignment is really not hard. 61.5 and 110 would mean they moved two dishs.

The most important points are;

When removing the dish, do not change any of the angular tilt or elevation adjustments on the dish.

The change of the topography or the surface of the roof made by the shingles will change, even if the original holes and bolts are used to mount the pole. Accordingly, the MAST must be replumbed.

With the mast plumbed and the dish replaced, all that needs to be done is to place the receiver in the signal strength mode and swing the dish from side to side until peaked. Tighten the bolts holding the dish to the mast, and you're done.

Complain to the roofing company and get them to pay to have the dishes realigned.

You could do it yourself, but if you aren't used to climbing on roofs, I would wait until a pro can do it. If you do it yourself, there are instructions in your owners manual. You would need to have someone at the receiver and someone on the roof and some method of communication (i.e. yelling, cell phone, walkie talkie, etc.).

If you have a SuperDish, you don't have to worry about 105 anymore because your SD locals were moved to 110. Just concentrate on getting 110 & 119. You will need 61.5 for your HD locals, other HD programming, Sky Angel (if subscribed), & International programming (if subscribed).
