View Full Version : Twonky / Mac / HR20-100 not working

I'm just starting with Twonky on my new HR20-100S, and would appreciate a couple of pointers: It's not quite there yet.

As far as I can tell, everything should be working. I've got the HR20 plugged into my network, and the box's tests report that it's properly connected. I'm running Twonky 4.4 on a PowerMac server, along with the cgilame MP3 patch for Macs posted elsewhere on this board. I've aimed it at my iTunes and iPhoto directories; it's reporting the right number of music tracks and photos, and I can access both from Twonky's web access pages.

The problem is that I'm not seeing any evidence of Twonky on the HR20. I'm guessing from other comments on this board that a new menu item called something like "Music & Photos" would just sort of appear in the HR20's MENU -- is that right? Is there anything else that I have to do on either side to make this work? I've turned the HR20 on and off, but haven't pulled the plug or otherwise reset it, and, for the moment, I've turned the server's firewall off, just to rule that out.

Any advice? So close, yet so far....

Are you using a static IP address for the MAC that is running Twonkey. If so you will want to go to the network tab/section in twonkey and tell it the address of said MAC.

Other than that i would suggest rebooting the MAC that the media server is on and also the HR20 again if needed.

Also this should more than likely be moved ot the general HR20 forum as there is more traffic for this kind of thing over there and it is on topic.

With VOD coming (hopefully soon), perhaps a separate forum for networking issues is needed.

Aha -- I had missed the "enter your IP address here" thing on the network tab -- the server is indeed on a static IP (duh). Adding that, and rebooting everything in sight, gave me a working system.

So, Twonky is working, my 50" Panasonic plasma is getting delivered this afternoon, and the Apple Store just e-mailed me that my iPhone is shipping on Friday. It's been a good tech day...

Thanks to all!,
