Why LP/CI on Dish Network blow away DirecTV's

I checked with Dish. It does NOT require a basic subscription. You can pay the $5/month maintenance fee to subcribe to LP/CI.

In years past, you need a basic subscription on DirecTV in order to get LP/CI. That means an extra $30 per month just to watch the basketball/hockey games.

Why don't I want a basic subscription? because I get that from cable already.
