Hey Moonman. Are you headed to the Cape for the Delta launch on the 7th? I plan on heading to Jetty Park with the camera. :D

Nope, but I am going to STS-118 launch. Endeavour's liftoff currently sked.
at Aug. 9th @ 6:15 PM...will be in the VIP viewing area, thanks to family who
work at the Cape...

Excellent. I was at the press area by the big countdown clock 3 miles away for shuttle launch #2 (a long time ago). It was quite the experience. I'll be in Titusville for STS-118 (most likely).

Actually, the launch target date has been moved up to Aug. 7th. No time has been announced.

You are correct. That day works better for me than the 9th. :D

Bringing this hijacked thread :backtotop about D10's launch and recording alert, at this point you need to setup a manual recording for channel 570 starting at about 9pm EDT on July 6. Too early and the channel might not be setup correctly.

Cheers,
Tom

Sorry, but I don't understand what you are saying.....I know how to set up a
manual record, but I always pad for a early start...how can this mess up the
channel set-up??.....I know at an earlier point in time, with the HR-20, if the screen was black, no recording took place...is this what you mean?

You won't mess with channel setup; DIRECTV might not have the channel setup if you start too early. And the HR20 seems to still be sensitive to trying to record on a channel that is not fully ready.

I suggested 9pm as ILS will be starting studio coverage at 8:50pm and the launch won't be until 9:16pm (all EDT.)

Cheers,
Tom

OK, sounds like a plan....I may just stay home, and push the "Record" button
while watching the live feed....:)

What I like about the HR20 is you can do both on the same tuner. I originally had it setup to start at 8:50, but per your suggestion, I went in and set another recording starting at 9:05. There's also something else recording on a different channel at 9 PM, so all 3 will record and show up separately in the Playlist.

I'll probably watch it live though, if I think of it lol

The launch is now listed in the guide on Ch. 570 for tomorrow night!
FYI that I added channel 570 to my favorite list so that it shows up in the guide. I hit Info on it and went to tomorrow evening. There are 2 shows, one at 8:30 for "D10 Launch Test" and another at 8:55 for "D10 Launch". I was able to one button record both easily.

If you want to get back in the Press Area PM me closer to launch date to see if I will be going to the Cape. If so, I will be happy to put you down on the list so you can "assist us". But heads up, NASA requires SSN for background check in advance.

I'm just not sure if I will be going in for the August Launch.

Will we actually be able to view this channel tonight? This is a "Private Broadcast" channel. Are we just going to see "Searching for Authorized Content?" :nono2:
I really want to see this thing launched. I took off and everything. :D

Don't worry.....D* always puts these things(launches) on a PVT channel...at
the appointed time, they will open the chan. up to all...Probably have a coundown slide up around 6:30 PM or so.
