Unfortunately, the only install date in my area anytime soon is at a time I cannot be at home. It will be up to my wife to make sure everything goes well. Thus, I'm kinda nervous.

I currently have 1 HD tv using the 10-250 and then I have 2 SD tv's using SD receivers. I will be getting the HR20 (w/ the 5 lnb dish) to replace the 10-250 and I have requested that they move the 10-250 to the bedroom to replace the SD receiver I have in there just to be able to utilize the DVR functions.

So, are there any special instructions I could leave my wife to give to the installer to make sure everything goes smoothly? With me not being there checking over his work, I can just imagine what kind of install this may be. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, this is my first post here. This forum is awesome.

1) IF the wife is happy withthe install ... you WIN
2) IF the wife is unhappy ... it's HER fault ... but NOT ever tell her THAT

I would be nervous too I was present for my install and it still got botched. The installer installed the dish a new multi switch and an HR20-700S yesterday. I don't know how he did it but less than 20 Min's after he left the dish became misaligned I finally got the install finished this morning.

Well my installation was today and thanks to you guys, I think it went rather well. I'm now a new owner of the HR20. I printed out as many things as I could so my wife felt comfortable, but she said the installer would have nothing to do with the "tips" sheets. He did not want to relocate my 10-250 to the bedroom due to the fact he had to run another line to the room. But she stood her ground and he ended up doing it at no charge.

Is it normal for the zinwell multi-switch to be "attached" to the outside cable box? This box will now not actually close all the way due to all the circuitry that's in it. Is that normal?

Also, I'm not quite sure I understand what all the numbers mean when I look up the signal strength. I'm basically at 98-100's on most signals, but there are still some that come up 0 or very low. Should I have a number registering for every transponder for each satellite? I'm sure that's a dumb question, but I would like to know. I'm in the Raleigh, NC area.

The local HD channels look great. Is that what MPEG4 looks like and what we have to look forward to when all the other channels change to this?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just excited.

Congratulations. Sounds like you're mostly OK, but I don't like the sounds of "the Zinwell multiswitch attached to the outside cable box". I gather you mean that the installer reused an existing weatherproof enclosure and mounted the Zinwell inside? But the door won't close properly? That's not good, especially if rain can get inside. Ideally the multiswitch should be installed indoors.

As far as your signal readings, check especially the 99 and 103-deg satellites. As long as one of those satellites has a transponder reading high 90's, then your dish is properly aimed. The "zero" readings you're seeing are from "spot beam" transponders not aimed at North Carolina.
