This question/idea is two fold...
1. Can we ask DTV to add satelite/transponder listings in its program info screen (probably in the "more info" screen)? It would help in diagnosing reception issues.
2. Does anyone have a current list of what channels are on what sat/trans.? Does the assignment of this change a lot? Thanks!

You can see which channels are beamed from each satellite here ....
http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/america.html

But DirecTV is rather cagey about specific transponder information, probably because they move channels across various transponders, so it would tough to keep updated.

You can certainly request that DirecTV add satellite/transponder info to the program info screens, but don't hold your breath.

I looked at that list but I didn't see YES HD and SNY HD. Is there a way to get the transponders from the Mpeg4 local channels? I have much worse reception (rain fade) on my Mpeg4 locals in general but it's terrible on SNY HD and YES HD. Last night I was getting the no signal message and the weather was perfect. My other HD locals were all fine. I'm in the NYC area.

What are your signal readings on the 99 and 103-deg satellites? Your dish alignment might need tweaking. I actually find that my MPEG4 channels hold up better in heavy rain than my other channels.

It does seem as if there are two camps on the MPEG-4 drop outs.

I have readings in the 90's on the 99 where my locals are and the MPEG-4 drops before the MPEG-2. Not much more (it does not happen frequently by any stretch) but the first thing I do is switch to the SD version if I'm actually watching live TV and it is usually fine. Given the HD is at 94% and the SD is at 99%, it makes perfect sense.

I'd bet if folks posted the SD versus HD signal strength (for locals) it would be easy to compare the circumstances.

digiblur at www.satelliteguys.us (http://www.satelliteguys.us) keep posting channel's map.

Unfortunately, what 'digiblur' posts is a PDF file that he has locked up with password security. You can stare at it, but that's it. You are disallowed from from extracting the information or doing anything useful with it. Must be a real ego issue.

I could help if you're willing to fond a purchase of DVB-S2 card from Europe(TT S2-3200 or S2-3600).

I'll check my readings again tonight. From memory I recall that on 99 most were above 90 but 2 were in the 70s. It was pretty similar for 103 although I know I get my Mpeg4 local networks from 99. I assume that SNY and YES HD would come from there as well.

My Mpeg4 channels hold up very poorly in the rain and Yes and SNY HD often don't hold up even when there is no rain. My Mpeg2 channels virtually never go out in the rain.

He doesn't have 99 or 103 on his listing.

That's because he doesn't have a ka setup.

What?

Raoul- the PDF files by digiblur are Password Security Protected. Changing the document is not allowed. Content copying or content extraction is not allowed. Even commenting is not allowed.

So you get to enjoy what you see. Only. But you can't sort it, you can't change it, you can't reformat it, you can't extract it and you can't work with the data in any way.

Next best thing to useless. The good news is that you get to see digiblur's name in bold print on every page.

OK here are my numbers:
Sat 99(b) Transponders 1-6: 94, 93, 77, 88, 73, 88
Sat 103(a) Transponders 1-6 and 17: 95, 77, 0, 94, 86, 75, 0

Sat 103(a) Transponders 1-6 and 17: 95, 77, 0, 94, 86, 75, 0
Are these numbers good? Should I be having frequent rain fade issues on Mpeg4 channels? And is there any reason why my 2 RSN HD channels (SNY and YES) should have problems even when my other Mpeg4 locals are fine.

I checked my numbers for the locals because I noticed an occasional (~once every 4 hours) pixellation on one of my local channels.......was I surprised!
99(b) - 32,51,0,66,0,0 (both tuners)

I just received the HR20 on Monday, and primarily use the H20 on the week-ends. While reception has never been a major issue (occasion breakup), how am I even getting my locals with these readings?

Time for an alignment on the 99! 101 shows (1) 89 and the rest are 90+.

Is the 99 the lowest in the sky? I hope not, as a few trees may be obstructing the view.

On my 103(a) I get 7: 17, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0

On my 99(b) I get 6: 69, 74, 0, 69, 46, 64

Do these numbers appear OK??? I have OTA locals as well with readings all 90 or better yet OTA (Boston) only seems a hair better to my eyes than the D* HD locals. I also can get a few Providence OTA channels with readings in the 60's that are watchable.

If you are getting local HD from D*, then no I would expect 95+ on one transponder from one of those SATs. "Your" spot beam should be strong.
