I know there is a limitation of 2 VIP622 boxes per household. If I had 2 VIP622 boxes, could I get a single HD receiver (what is the model for this? No DVR, single tuner) for a different room?
Do I pay additional monthly charge for a non-DVR HD receiver?
Thanks!

There are various limits on how many receivers Dish will lease to anyone. There is also a limit of six receivers total on any contract.
You can try to get them to lease you a VIP211 or you can buy one outright. Usually there is a five buck charge for every additional receiver on an account.
I currently have a VIP622, VIP211, 721, 501 and 921 on my account. Only one is leased.
The VIP211 is the HD non-DVR receiver that you probably are looking for. $245 at the Dish Store.
You may also need an additional switch to provide signals to three receivers.

I have an additional receiver access fee of $5 for my third receiver. I believe it is waived for the second if it is leased, BICBW.

And replaced with another $5 fee.

You cannot have more than 2 ViP 622's with E* even if you go out and buy them?

I thought I had seen several people claim to have 3+ 622's?

I think there is a limit on two leased 622, a third purchased one could be added to the account.
I tried to order two 622's a couple of weeks ago on lease but was told by DISH that there is a three "tuner" limit on leases.
They said I could get a 211 with the 622... They also said I could buy one 622 and lease another one. I had worked out all the plans and talked to the wife about packages and options. So when I was told no to two 622's I had to stop the call, re-group and call back. I will admit I looked at Direct and Cable just to see if there were any other options. I have been using Dish for to many years to leave them now but I did look.
We are moving to our new house on the 16th of July.
The plan was to replace my two 301's and two 311's with two 622's.
Right now I am keeping the 301's and 311's for upstairs and the 622 will be in the basement.
Two 622's would have been exactly what I needed but I will live with one 622 until I can figure out what I want to do with the sets upstairs. I may just feed TV2 signal from the one 622 to the LCD's upstairs. I am just not sure how the SD signal will look on a HD set. I might buy a 622 outright but with all the moving costs I might plan this for a future upgrade path.

Last I heard it was a 4 tuner lease limit.

Several people have posted success in getting them to lease two 622s if you contact ceo@echostar.com and tell them of your troubles. They are more capable of helping long-term (and short term) customers than the standard CSRs.

It is a 4 tuner limit on an account, but on any one DIU transaction, you can only do three tuners of any type.
The ceo@echostar.com can over-ride these limits, but CSR's do not have the software that will allow them to do this.

I've always wondered why they maintain these limits. Most companies would welcome the additional business.

With your first 622 you also must pay the $20 programming fee for HD or the $6 HD access fee, etc, but each additional 622 does not expand the revenue stream for Dish, they only get maybe $6 or $12 per month per additional 622. It takes a long time to pay off the unit with that narrow a revenue stream.
I just DIUpped for a 211. It only cost me $49 after programing credits. My monthly bill will not change at all, so I've leased the 211 from Dish for $49 flat, no monthly payment because it is my primary receiver now. No lease fee on it.

I'm trying to get them to take back my leased 625 for a 622, 211 or 222. So far, they're not budging since they "think" they have me locked in with the 'Dishing it up' package for my 622.. I'm trying to find a good deal on Ebay for a 211 as the CSR's basically told me to either buy one or try to sucker a local installer.
