The NBA blackouts on the NBA League Pass are WEIRD. I am in Central Connecticut, our two local teams are the Boston Celtics and New York Nicks.
However the Celtics game was not blacked out however the following games were.
Atlanta vs New Jersey
New York - Detroit
As far as I know New Jersey is not a local team and should not be blocked. Is anyone else seeing any weird blackouts?

I really haven't had much of a chance to watch the NBA, but the NHL blackouts are weird for me. Living in NE Ohio it seems I can watch the Columbus BlueJackets and they blackout the Pittsburgh Penguins.......

I live in Michigan and see the Pistons game. I think for it to be blacked out I would have to live in Metro Detroit.

Isnt the Nets claim of area the same as the Yankees?

The "New Jersey" Nets dont claim all of NJ, but can claim all of New York state. YES gets their $2/mo/sub for all 12 months of the the entire year and would have difficulties changing their coverage area for Nets season versus Yankees season.
Anyways, What a ripoff to all residents in Southern NJ (Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland, Atlantic, and Cape May counties - 21% of NJ) that Nets are using New Jersey as their name, but dont claim all of NJ. Maybe they should go by name of Newark Nets or North Jersey Nets. :) The Yankee-Nets owners probably figure they make more money going getting the $2/mo/sub (a very lucrative television broadcast deal) for the entire NY DMA, Trenton(NY Philly overlap) plus Hartford-New Haven, Scranton, the entire state of NY (minus Buffalo?), rather than going for the entire state of NJ (which they already can get 80% anyways). So why bother with Southern NJ, if it would mean they might have to lose homes in NY and CT.
The Sixers played Lakers 2 seasons ago in the finals. The Nets a better team played last year but the ratings for the Nets Vs. Lakers were lower than Sixers vs. Lakers matchup. NJ should give the Nets back to NY (NY Nets) as more people across the country identify with NY not NJ and the fact NJ, which is not a city, cannot even claim its own state for viewers. Comcast wont let them. Comcast owns the cable systems in Southern NJ and owns the Sixers & Flyers so has more interest in preserving Sixers territory area.

I could be wrong but I think the blackouts are based on local broadcasts. If a local channel in your DMA or a RSN is broadcasting the game then it is blacked out. If not then you should get the feed even if it's your local team.

I live in the Nets, Sixers, and Nets territory, but I am over 100 miles from each arena those teams play. The Nets game on Fox South and the Sixers on Channel 24 from Wisconsin were both in the clear. The same was true of the Knicks-Pistons, an MSG broadcast. If this trend continues, I will not experience many blackouts. When I had the package with DTV, the same was true-very few if any blackouts.

And the politicians in New Jersey want the entire state to pay for a new arena for the Nets and Devils, even though the southern half of the state can't even watch their "New Jersey" team on TV. What BS.
I've also thought it strange that the "state university of NJ" (Rutgers) only has it's football / basketball games televised in NYC and the northern part of the state - not that we're missing much recently ...
