Well, I finally got a little time off in my crazy guiding schedule here on the Kenai Peninsula to try to set up the second dish I brought along this summer (GeoSat Pro 90cm).

I did manage to find 110, although it wasn't the easiest aiming job I've ever had. Lots of tree dodging :)

The spotbeam transponders are coming in great ... 110-125 signal strength.

All other transponders read zeros across the board. I imagine this is because the dish is really too small for the area???

If I was to call Dish and finally officially move here for the summer (everything is authorized for Platinum package in WA state) ... should I be able to pull the HD channels on these spots just fine even though most transponder show nada??

Any others with smaller dishs seeing similar readings? Thanks!!

Just a correction ... not all spots are working, TP's 4, 12, and 26 are very high. Looks like I should be able to get 27 and 31 and not doing so. No odd TP's at all ... equipment issue?? LNBF (Invacomm quad) is new, have tried new cable run and switch (SW 21) as well. Could clipping a tree cause this problem??

trees don't discriminate against even and odd transponders.

if you have a 0 on the transponder, you will not be receiving anything off that transponder.

it sounds as if your ird is not switching between 13V and 18V to change between even and odd.

however, if you are not seeing anything but the spotbeams, you clearly will not be seeing most of the other programming. i thought most people used at least a 1 Meter or even greater size dish in alaska?
