Does Dish have any plans to let sony make receivers for them? Sony's receivers for DTV are so much better than the 301. Is dish planning any more receivers without PVR to pricey? Just want a plain receiver with 2 outputs and DD output no PVR built-in.

Sony's receivers are actually made by Hughes. You'll probably see a Sony receiver for E* when you see an Echostar receiver for D*. :)

It doesn't matter WHO makes 'em....it's the software in them that is specified by the vendor, i.e., Sony.

I agree with mnassour, It's the software that makes the receiver. But if it's made by Thomson Elec. (RCA) it is crap!

Historically DISH has made receivers for JVC, Phillips & RCA they have all had DISH Network's operating system. If you like it buy it, if you like SONY buy it and connect to DIRECTV.
