View Full Version : $19.95 and a great installation in Pittsburgh
I am a 6 or 7 year D* customer who wanted to upgrade from an H20. Based on the information on this site (thank you) I eventually conviced the CSR that others on the forum were getting the $19.95 deal for a new dish, a HR20 and installation. Having read several bad experiences with the Ironwood installers, I was expecting difficulties. Quite the opposite occurred. The installers were running late and called to let me know. The install ended up being more complicated than I thought it would be but they stayed and got the job done just before dark.
The brownies my wife made for them were helpful.
ah, the old brownie trick. :hurah:
My Hird-8 (E86) HD receiver died last night. Of course I had a spare E86 that I bought on Ebay a couple of years ago.
Called DTV, had them swap the receivers and enable the same card and back in business.
But I asked them about upgrading to a new DVR HD receiver as mine wouldn't work with the new MP-4 coming soon.
As I've been a customer since 1998 they gave me a "deal". $100. off of a $299.00 HR-20 along with free installation of a 5 lnb dish.
Well, I hadn't been on the forums for a while so I figured I'd check out what was new. Surprise! I saw that some were getting the HR-20 for $19.95 installed with a new dish (existing customer).
I called and asked for retention. I then asked why I didn't qualify as I'm a long time, always paying on time, good package customer. Nice guy. He said "let me research that a little, be right back".
He came back and told me that my M/C charge for $221.90 was refunded and the original order canceled. He put in a re-order for the same equipment and install date.
No pressure, no whining, just asked a simple question politely and got a great answer.
It really does matter which agent you are talking to I guess.
Of course I don't have it installed yet but I'm very optimistic.
And now!! A new satellite made it to orbit!

Yeah, they gave me an HR20 with no hassle at all. I told them I really wanted to get into the whole HD thing, but $299 was out of my league since I just purchased a new TV. Bam! They said for $19.95, they send me a box and have it installed. Freddy
