I'm getting prepared for a new HD install at the end of the month (I'm moving) and I just want to know what to expect from the installers.

When they do a cable run, will they drop it down the wall from a crawl space(attic)? Will I have to have the holes drilled and prepped for them?

I'll call D* and get the installers phone number just to verify, but I was curious what the experience on the forum had been.

During Installation
Make sure an adult authorized to sign for completed work and make decisions about the home is present. A certified installer will:

Install a dish on your roof, side of home, balcony or other location.
Drill through one wall.
Connect your DIRECTV® Receiver to your current TV, audio receiver, VCR and/or DVD player.
Give you a mini-lesson about your system.
Activate your service.

Wall fishes (drop down in a wall or up from basement) are normally not free. We charge up to $60 per wall.

Some areas charge extra for atic/crawl space work.

Just discuss your options with your installer BEFORE any work starts to avoid surprises for you or him.

You can drill your own holes and run a pull wire so all the installer has to do is hookup the RG6 to it and pull.
