Yes DIRECTV will be adding more HD locals when D10 starts being used.

Here's a question for all you experts out there. Right now D*'s got 60 markets up for HD local channels. In the D10 press release http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=127160&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1023344&highlight= they say that D10 will allow them expand to 75 markets this year, that's only 15 more cities then what they have now. I would have thought that they could do more HD LIL then just 15 more cities. Is the small number of new cities due to not having a lot of time before the end of 2007 to get more then that active, or is D* going to use more of D10's resources for CONUS HD channels.

Remember, the 150 national and 1500 local HDs were based upon both satellites being up. I would guess they would concentrate on nationals and consolidating their locals until the second sat is up.

That was my understanding as well, most of the HD locals were going to be carried on D11 and get the nationals up sooner on D10.

They still have space on SW1, SW2 that they could use now for HD lil. There were about 8 more markets that were going up in the 2nd Q, but they stopped. Don't know why.
