View Full Version : HR20-100 significant less RF range than 700
I had an HR20-700 using RC34 remote in RF mode. range was incredible and never missed a button press. My 700 died and when the replacement came in, it was an HR20-100. I setup the same remote to it in RF mode and yet it is very flaky. It literally is almost acting like IR it is so bad but I know its not.
Does anyone else have a problem with RF on the HR20-100?
I do have the antenna connected to the back which the HR20-700 didn't even have.

There have been many postings about problems with using RF.
The -700 has an internal antenna and some from China had issues that sounded like the antenna wasn't connected.
The -100 is made in Mexico and there are some posting about problems with RF too.
I think the antenna for the -700 was on the front [but I don't know] and with the -100 [as you know] it's on the back. Is yours in a metal rack or AV cabinet?
Some have improved the RF by adding a piece of coax and raising the antenna up to get a better signal. Do you have any other wireless equipment that might be interfering with it?
mine is in a wood entertainment center. wood door stays closed. I can try the coax idea and move the antenna out of the cabinet and behind the tv. at least then it'll be in open air more or less. I was just surprised how the 700 was flawless with no external antenna and this one I have to be closer than IR to get it to go right.
