Well I was in Best Buy today and lo and behold there was an ad for Discovery HD Theater being displayed on their DirectTV feed. You know that custom feed that goes through all the Best Buy stores for the television department. They were scrolling a call now to get Discovery HD Theater coming soon 800 number.

thats nice but i havent seen any HD equipment with caller id,i have caller id on my phones as well but i think its great to have it on the tv, at any rate, some of the post i read here say the HD isnt all that hot yet. I have the eliptical dish wich is what you need for HD, but to come up with all the money for a new TV and reciever, not possible, maybe in 10 years the prices will drop. The thing is the analog over the air signal is just as good or almost as!

You sure? I've seen them running ads on DirecTV but at the end it says you need Dish. I think thats because they are Discovery ads not DirecTV ads.

I hope you're right! Thats about the only thing missing from my DirecTV...

alls i know is i tried a $19.95 jensen antena, put it outside and connected a long run of rg-6 coax that i had, pluged it into to the back of the vcr, and ABC or FOX looked like HDTV. The Analog picture was VERY impressive, far better than any compressed digital signal that directv has to offer, but that was just an experiment, i returned the jensen antena to best buys because my goal was to see if the time on my VCR would be set with the analog signal, it should of but it did not, but thats another story.

The new Samsung T160 D*/HDTV box has it as well - our local Best Buy just got them in.

I would find it very odd to have an add for Discovery HDT in Best Buy if it was giving a 800 number that would tell you that you have to buy Dish. It could be possible though. But, you would think that since Best Buy only has DirectTV they would be pushing that on the DirectTV feed that they are running in the stores. Maybe it is an evil Charlie plot!

Well the ads I've seen are run by Discovery Channel. The ad shows all the features of HDTV and then says call your local provider. At the bottom it says "Satallite only available on Dish Network" with the dish logo. This wasn't a DirecTV ad, it was a Discovery Channel ad...

Yea, Directv says they have no plans to add Discovery HD :(
