what multi-switch will I need?

well, strike 1 on the first attempt at installation.. even though I confirmed that the work order contained a new 5LNB dish, the installer didn't have one on his truck.

at any rate, I've currently got 3 dual-tuner tivos and 1 standard receiver for a total of 7 lines going into the house. When we add the HR-20, that'll put us up to 9 lines into the house so I'm assuming I'll need a 6x12 multi-switch instead of the 6x8 we have now? when I brought that to the attention of the installer he seemed a little confused.

am I correct in that I'll need a 6x12 switch now or are they somehow able to piggyback 2 6x12 switches?

There is no 6x12 multiswitch that I know of. Only a 6x8 or 6x16. Your best bet is a 6x16 multiswitch. If you call DirecTV, it's likely you can get them to credit you for the cost of the 6x16, as it should have been included with the installation (I don't understand why they didn't atleast give you a 6x8, but that's installers for you.)

They used 2 6x8s on mine as the 6x16s were hard to get at the time. Everything is working.
