I think you need to clarify your terminology. A Dish Pro single is neither a 300 nor a 500 it is a LNBF, the amplifier/feed that is mounted in front of the dish. Dish Pro LNBFs are available as singles, Twins or Quads. Twins and Quads are used on DISH 500's. Singles can be used on DISH 300 or DISH 500 dishes and most of the time will be used with DP-34 switches.

But if you are asking if a Dish500 will work for 61.5, the answer is YES.

Is there any adapter needed to convert a dish 500 to a single LNBF for use with 61.5 ? Can the existing twin 500 LNBF be used for 61.5 instead of a single -- and then connected to a DP34?

Background:
I replaced an old Dish500 dish left by former residents with a new Dish500 with receiver purchased at Wal*Mart. New dish installed quickly. I'd like to point the old Dish500 at 61.5 for additional channels. I have the appropriate switches, I just need to figure out how to aim the dish.

What I have done:
Run a cable direct from the 119 LNB of the old Dish500 to my reciever. "Point Dish" screen showing 109 signal strength on Echostar119.
Selected "61.5" and my correct ZIP Code - adjusted dish to match Azimuth and Elevation. Don't know what to do with Skew.
Rough pointed my dish at the bird. No signal found. I've tried different transponders (25,27,32) but no luck. Tried Skew of 90 instead of the old 118 needed for 110/119.

Questions:
Does skew matter? Am I going to be banging my head against the dish until I guess the right number or should I leave the old 110/119 skew?
What transponder(s) should I be looking for?

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Skew dont matter much when you are getting no signal, put the skew to what the menu/zip tells you, you seem to know how to point a dish so it must just be a switch problem (in lnb?), I think you may have to run another check switch, or unhook the satellite from the receiver and leave it for as long as you can then plug it in with out satellite plugged in, for a few mins. I dont know that much about dish as I install mainly DirecTV, but this will get you started until someone else chips in! I do loads of 61.5 installs they go real smooth, remember this sat. is lower in the sky than the Dish 500 settings...........good luck

justalurker - for a Dish500 pointed at 61.5 -
Set skew to ZERO ( 0 )

elevation to whatever it should be for your location.

Azimuth - approximately 4.5 degrees off to the side of what ever azimuth for your location.

Be sure to use the the plastic Y adapter that came with the Dish500.

I'm getting both even and odd 110 transponders on a direct cable so I believe I can rule out a switch/wiring problem.
BTW: I'm a bit east of you. My elevation for 61.5 is 36 degrees - the same as a straight shot at 110.

Thanks for the pointers ... I'll keep. err, pointing! that dish.

If you have a dish 500 set to look at one orbital location then you can set it to 0 skew or you can set it to what you normally have it when you had it on 110/119 and still get the signal in either way.

What you may be able to do is see the difference in elevation and azimuth between a dish 300 and a dish 500 in the menu screen on the 110/119 slots and apply the same difference to the 61.5 slot with the same skew.

Got it!
Seems like the thin branches of the tree were thick enough.
I moved the dish to a clearer spot and managed to get a 115 level signal off of 61.5 . All I have to do now is mount it there "permanently".
