3 Signals with dual LNB?

This is for a friend of mine. His theory:

Using a dual LNB- 1 output goes to the living room TV.
Line 2 goes to a splitter. Both lines from the splitter go to a Dual Tuner DirevTivo box in another room.
The living room TV is a single tuner box.
Is this doable? Is a multiswitch needed instead of a standard splitter?

No it's not.

Replace the splitter with a Multiswitch (both LNB's go to the MS), then all tuners goto the MS with individual cables - INCLUDING the D-Tivo's 2 CABLES !!!
