I know this subject has been beat to death and hopefully it goes away in a month or two or three but I have to ask this question:
Can someone explain to me why yesterday:
I received the Red Sox SD broadcast on NESN 623 (as usual).
I was blacked out of the Yankees SD broadcast on YES 622 (as usual)
I received the Yankees YES HD broadcast on channel 95 (very unusual)
I was blacked out of the Red Sox NESN HD broadcast on channel 94 (never happened last year, happens every game this year).
No other station in my area carried the Red Sox game yesterday.
I am in zip code 01237. According to the MLB map, I am in Red Sox territory.
According to DirecTV, I should not be getting any MLB at all (NESN is not
listed as one of my RSNs (the CSR called it a "happy error").

If you have MLBEI with SuperFan, then you were supposed to get Channel 95.
I believe that the HD channels of the RSN share the same channel number as their SD counterparts ... at least here in metro DC with Comcast on Channel 629.
Presuming that is the case with NESN, then you were blocked from Channel 94 and should have been watching on Channel 623's HD side.
If I'm missing something, my apologies in advance ...
cheers

I do not have MLB EI or Superfan. 623 HD is not available to me because I am not close enough to Boston (not in Boston DMA) -- which may be why I don't get channel 94 when it has NESN HD on it, I suppose (which makes no sense). If I am watching something on 623 and the exact same broadcast is on 94 (same announcers, commercials, etc) with the exception of picture quality of course, I should get 94. The CSR told me it is a blackout issue with the MLB and I don't really believe that.
I'm in the Boston DMA and I had the NESN RedSox broadcast on 623 in 720p and the Redsox on 94 in 1080i. I do not have MLB extra innings but i also get the YES network 1080i feed on 95. I have no idea why???

You were getting the YES feed because it was a free preview of MLB EI. As far the NESN at 720p on channel 623, that's something dumb D* is doing which pretty much ruins the channel.

That's right, I forgot ... they typically do a "free-view" right after the All-Star break.

Not sure but the HD feed was probably from the Toronto side, so It would be blacked out for us. Hopefully the game will come from NESNHD tonight. I didnt check the SD YES feed, but it shouldn't have been blacked out. I am pretty sure I saw SD YES in the 700s. At least I know for sure I saw it on the mix channel. I know what you mean, they have got it all screwed up this year!!
Edit: I see DrZ says the game on 95 was the NESN feed. Man they have got to get a clue. Oh by the way, MLB is Free till the 18th.

Try this:
I always receive NESN SD
I receive YES-HD on Channel 622 since their HD broadcast started.
When the Red Sox are on Channel 94, or 95, I receive the PREGAME in HD, then I get the not available in my area message when the game comes on.

On a related note, anybody know why the Tigers-Mariners game yesterday wasn't on the EI preview? Both FSN Detroit and FSN Northwest carried it, so it wasn't on an OTA channel, so why didn't we get it?
The D* website listed it on channel 744, but on that channel was nothing but an "upcoming..." listed.
Thankfully, I do have mlb.tv and watched it there, but I couldn't record it Annoying.
Anybody?

When they first turned on 622 HD and 625 HD I was able to watch Yankees Encore in HD and LIVE Mets games. I noticed the Mets game was on 625 HD last night (in Standard Def) but not on 625 SD (not available). So I don't know if I got 625 HD because I still get it or because of the free preview. Yet, I enter my zip code in the D* web site and they tell me I should only get FSNE 620. Must be another "happy error" by D*.
