Upgrading equipment and old programming package.

I'm curious if D automatically changes the programming package when getting equipment upgrades? I currently have Total Choice for $48/mo and lifetime DVR service (old Tivo). I've got an HR10 that I want to get upgraded to an HR20 (hopefully for the cost of shipping). I understand that I'll have to have the HD package for $10 month with the HR20 but I don't want to get bumped to something like Choice Extra which is $55/mo. + the $10/mo for HD.

Is it possible to keep the current programming packace or is it automatically changed when upgrading hardware? Would it help to add the HD package before upgrading so that nothing on the programming side needs to change?

I just put in an order for an upgrade last week and have Total Choice. My programming package is still listed as Total Choice.

Your TC grandfathered package will remain if you upgrade your equipment or change your services. The base package will only change if you request it.
If for some reason it got changed without your permission, any CSR can restore it (you might need escalated to find someone that understands you didn't intend to switch and just want the package put back).
