Does dish have any plans to add or replace 301 soon or in near future? I want a receiver w/dolby output without PVR -too expensive. Seems like dish just wants to make new receivers w/pvr. I like dish so much better than direct, but direct gives you more chooses for receivers.

Only non PVR Dish box mentioned for the future is the 322, a dual tuner 301 that can out put to two different tv sets. But from the way it sounds it won't have optical out. You could check Ebay for the 4900, a high end non PVR box with dd capability. With the AT150-CC auto pay commitment, a 501 or possibly a 508 would only costs you $199. A used 4900 wouldn't cost much less then that.
