Multiple HR20's in Same Room

Hi - I'm sure that this has been covered somewhere on this site before but I've searched and couldn't find the specific information. I also looked in the HR20 Manual and well, need I say more :eek2:

I have a HR20 in an Entertainment Center and will be adding a second on this Friday assuming that the Installer shows up this time. I'm wondering how I go about setting them up so that they can be in the same rack and controlled but different remotes and or different remote codes from the same remote. Is this where the AV1 and AV2 come in to play?

I went through the manual of the remote and it seems to indicate that this is possible like my old SD TiVO's but doesn't give specifics. I started going through the Remote Setup Option on my existing HR20 but to me it isn't very clear as to what I need to do to get them on different codes.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can do 1 for Directv and one for AV1.

Do 1 RF and the other AV1
or
Do RF for both and use 2 remotes

You can do them both off of one remote. Like or270 said above leave the one you have now programmed under DIRECTV and program the second one under AV1. When you go into the menu/remote setup to program the second HR20 for AV1 make sure you also set that HR20 for AV1/AV2 instead of DIRECTV. I believe it is the button option under the remote menu.

Ok so this sounds like it was simple but I haven't been able to get it to work. I guess I need baby steps.

The installer just left, I now have a HR20-700 and the new one is an HR20-100. I'm trying to use them both in the same room. I've gotten as far as going in to the receiver mode and getting it set to AV1 / AV2 on the HR20-100 from there I can't get anywhere. I can't control the HR20-100 from either remote on any of the settings (Directv, AV1 or AV2). What am I missing?

Of course, I got as far as 00001 and 00002 and didn't see anything about 00003 in the Remote Manual or anywhere else.

Now if I can only figure out how to dim the annoying ring. It does dim to the usual pressing of the left / right button like on the HR20-700 :-(

Dimming the ring is supposed to be the same on both models, but I don't have a -100 to verify that.
