My dish should be installed next saturday but I am curious about a couple things.
I will mostly want to use my 622 as a dual tuner on 1 tv, but I also have an rf transmitter that I use to send the signal upstairs to my bedroom. It worked fine with my old dish setup but of course the signal it sent was whatever was on the main tv(my dish dvr had two outputs). This time I'd like to split the sd tuner on the 622 so that it send a signal to the rf transmitter and still to the main tv, is that possible? I'm thinking it should be fine.
Are there two remotes or just one remote for both tuners? Should I ask the installer to connect the sd tuner to the rf device or just normally to the main tv and then split it myself?
thanks.
The 622 comes with two remote, an IR remote to be used for tv1 and a UHF remote for tv2. Both work independently of each other depending you your setup, and you should have no problems in dual user mode, however if you use single user mode with shared view enabled both remotes work tv1. If in single user mode with shared viewed disabled, tv2 remote does not work at all.

The answer is the dual mode for the 622 Read up on it - use the RF out from the 622 to feed the 2nd TV and use the UHF remote (Remote #2) to change the channel.
That said, we felt the 2nd receiver was the better way to go - that way, we have dual tuner (single mode) capability for the 622 to feed the big living room TV.
Just my two cents.

That's what I did as well...Just swapped out the really old receiver on one TV with my somewhat newer SD receiver, and replaced it with a 622 running in single mode on my new HDTV. I wanted the DRV capabability on my TV.

Then do I have to activate one of my old recievers and pay another $5/month for programming?
If I have to do that shouldn't I just have them bring another free reciever or should could I use my old dvr from a previous account?
And I only have two lines from my dish to the tv. Is that enough to run the 622 and an extra reciever?
what I would really like is to have it in dual user mode and still be able to control both tuners with tv1 remote. so that if I want to swap tuners on tv1 and record two show, etc I can do that. But it sounds like in dual user mode, it operates like having two separate tuners so I can't record two shows from downstairs.

Will both TV's ever be watched by 2 different people at the same time?
If yes, you need to use dual mode or set up a 2nd receiver.
If no, then use single mode (with shared view enabled). Then you can send the output of the 622 to the 2nd TV, control both tuners from either location and both remotes will work the same.

Probably yes. I guess what I want is to be able to control both tuners from tv1 downstairs, and also be able to use the tv2 tuner upstairs. But as far as using two remotes I guess that's not necessary.
I guess I could set it up in dual mode and split the 2nd tuner off to another input on my tv, so I would just have to change inputs on the tv to use the 2nd tuner. And I could send the same signal upstairs, not ideal but better than activating a 2nd tuner.
