Our HR20 has been installed since last November. We only have one line in from the 5LNB dish (we can't watch one channel and record another at the same time). This was done due to difficulty in installing a second line. There is a BBand converter on the line that is connected to Sat 1. But Channel 499 does not detect it. Does this mean that we're going to have to get a second line installed in order to get the new HD channels this Fall?? Thanks for your help.

Welcome Aboard.
No you will not have to have a second line connected to get the new HD channels. A second BBC won't be needed.

No. That means the one you have probably does not work. You should have a second one in the box. If you still have it try it and see if it works. If not call DIRECTV and have them send a replacement.
I had something strange going on with the BBC test channel 499 one day when I got the HR20 and H20 installed it only detected one of my BBCs working correctly the next day it detected all three properly (two on the HR20 and one on the H20) I guess the test channel still isn't perfect yet?
