Hey everyone, I found this place searching for info on my problem. Looks like a great site...hope you can help.

About a month ago, I had a tech come out because my HD Locals (Detroit) were breaking up a lot. Before he came out, the signals were in the 60-70 range. It turned out that the dish was loose and moved slightly. After he fixed it, they were all 90+ and I thought the problem was solved. Over the next week or so, however, the problem persisted. I had another guy come out and he tweaked it again and it seemed to work, until this week. The weather was questionable most of the week so I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but today the weather was perfect and the hd locals are breaking up like crazy. Since all 3 of my receivers are affected, I'm pretty sure its the dish. So my question is, do I need a new dish or is there something that could be replaced on the dish?

Thanks for the help.

What are you signals now? Do you have a multi-switch?

Also do you have BBC's connected?

does your dish have the twin support arms attached to you house? or is it mounted on a poll in the ground?

To answer all the questions, I honestly don't know if I have a multi-switch, how would I know if I did? The signals now are all above 94. I do have the BBCs connected and the dish is mounted on the house.

You will have 4 lines from the dish going to a multi-switch (it looks like this http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?main_cat=02&CAT=&PROD=WB68). Then from that you will have lines running to your receiver's.

Try removing the BBC's to see it that helps. They may be bad and may need to be replaced.

Here comes the stupid question. Is the trouble you are having now on all of your locals channels, or just one? I know from time to time here there is breakup on one of my locals, but it is a station problem and not the dish. Just a thought.

since your signals is in the mid 90's, i do agree with checking the BBC's (the little grey box) their located in behind each HD-receiver with a coax coming out of one end. they have been know to be bad.

No, it's all of them...even the FSN HD feed for the Tigers game is breaking up.

I don't think its the BBCs because I just got an HR20 and used the new BBCs that came with it and it breaks up as much as the others. Now here's a stupid question, would the multiswitch be inside or out?

Should be inside but a few installers have installed them outside.

You are checking the transponder signals on SAT 99 or 103 (whatever one your locals are on. Not sure) right?

Detroit's locals are on 101...at least according to another website that I can't link to because I dont have 5 posts

SD is on 101. HD is on 99 or 103.

Do the other HD channels break-up [like 72 - ESPN2, 73 - ESPN, etc.] Or is it strictly the locals? I had a similar problem when one of the cables to the multiswitch was not connected properly. That is what I would check first.

Yeah, I realized my mistake, but 103 is good.

have you tried un-hooking the BBC's? even new one's could be bad. i received new one with my HR20 and one was good the other was bad.
have you tried a RBR before? sometimes this helps!
also check both tuners on 103.
