I have both an IR and an RF remote for my R15-300 that I would like to have work at the same time. The RF remote works just fine controlling the R15. The IR remote does not appear to control the R15. When I press a button on the IR remote the BLUE light on the R15 blinks but nothing happens. I know that the IR remote is good as it controls another DTV box I have in the house.

Is there any way to get the R15 to recognize both remotes at the same time?

You would need another RF remote control, When receiver is setup for RF the IR will not work.

If you program your RF remote to work with the receiver and switch the setting back to IR, both remotes should work. At least it has with mine.

not true, I have mine (living room) set up for RF during football season we have 2 of them in the room I had to cover the IR sensor in the RF one so it wouldn't change channels on both.

So if two remotes are both set up for RF and the 1 HR-20-700 is set up to accept RF, are you saying that the IR still functions? I ask this because I have all my gear in a media closet. If I want the D* remote to control the gear in the closet, RF is the way to go. I also want it to control the TV volume via IR. Is it possible?

...also, I send IR signals from the D* remote to the closet via IR repeaters. If the IR does still funtion when using RF, will the receiver receive duplicate commands? ( 1 RF and another from the IR repeater). If yes, what will happen?

Short answer: No

Longer answer: Still no. Prior to the latest software releases, you could use both RF & IR on the R15s. With the latest releases offically supporting RF, its one or the other.

That's the key right there. Before RF was officially supported both IR and RF worked at the same time. Now that RF is formally incorported you have to pick one or the other. No option for both.

I can confirm that this is true. I am running the latest software upgrade 113e on my R15-500 and I can use both the ir and rf remote at the same time. I have never set up to use rf on the r15-500 (in the system setup) but only setup the remote itself using the 6 digit system code that gets programmed into the rf remote.

Maybe those of you who say it doesn't work should just try this and see. Don't know maybe it is only for the model 500.

I have the R15-500 running 10FA.Have the RC32 plus the RC64RB.When I married
the RC64RB to the R15-500 by using the last 6 receiver ID #'s both remotes still work.:)

Mine is a 300 and it works.

Thanks for all of the responses. The reason I originally asked the question is that I thought I had both the IR and RF remotes working with the R15-300 but that it stopped working after I downloaded CE 1099.
