I have the NR Ox17e, but the ff autocorrection is not working. From some of the posts, it appears there is a way to turn this on by using a "Back Door "menu? Could you please explain to a neophyte how to do this? (I apologize if this has already been explained, but after searching through the forum archives I haven't found the explanation of how to do this.)

go into search and search for keyword IAMANEDGECUTTER. When it returns that nothing is found, on the unit, press the menu and info keys simultaneously.

Found mine already enabled. This menu was cool. How many other back door menus like this exist??

This is the only back door menu. We have had this for many months now. When the one press guide first started there was a way to activate it by using the buttons on the front of the HR20. Then DIRECTV moved it to that menu and have added other options to it since. The when one press guide and scrolling was moved to the new white GUI menu they removed it from the back door menu. But then added the auto correction to it. They have been using that menu so we could turn the options on and test them in the CE process before all HR20 customers have it to make sure it is working ok.

If you have ever had TiVo it is the same thing. When using FFW or 30 sec. slip and you press play you jump back some.

Was it really not turned on? I thought it was on be default with this new NR.

I don't know if it was turned on by default for people who never used the backdoor options before. When I originally tested it, it was as a CE release and it was off by default. I enabled it and it's been enabled ever since.

Ahh.... I have 2 DirecTIVOs, so I am familiar with that.

How do I DISABLE ff correct? I don't see anything popping up after entering IAMANEDGECUTTER.

After you search for that keyword, you need to press the Menu and Info buttons, on the HR20 itself, simultaneously(possibly for at least 2 seconds). Then you should see the menu, with the sort order and FF auto correction options.

Thanks but I need to pay closer attention to what's written here. I was using my remote.

Maybe you should wake up???
I thought the auto correction was a tivo patent?Tivo has a patent on a specific implementation of auto-correcetion, but DIRECTV apparently came up with a different way to implement it. I suppose there's also a slim chance that DIRECTV negotiated with TiVo and obtained a license to use auto-correct, but I really don't think that's the case.
FYI -- I did not participate in the CE for FF autocorrection, and when 0x17E downloaded yesterday, it was on by default.
I'm assuming it should be like this for everyone.

Not anymore. The latest software update took that option out.
