For those who originally had to have the 2nd dish to bring in locals, when D** added your locals to the MPEG-4 HD list, do you still need the 2nd dish to get the channels only broadcasting in SD?
Or did the newer 5-lnb dish receive all the area locals that you had prior to the change over?
In other words, were you able to dump the 2nd dish?

If your SD locals were coming from anywhere other than 99, 103, 101, 110, or 119, yes you will still need that 2nd dish to receive them.

I live in Central Illinois and I had my system upgraded today. I currently do not have the locals or the 2nd dish for the locals, but the installer told me that when the locals HD become available they could come from the new satellite and I might not need the 2nd dish. Anyway, I guess I'll just have to wait and see, as it is now I can get all my locals OTA in HD so it isn't a big issue for me.
My install went very well, the installer and I discussed the installation beforehand and he did as I asked in the installation except he had to install the dish on the side of my house due to my pole diameter being 1.5 inches instead of 2 inches. I did not want to pay the $75 for a new pole. I'm pleased with how it all turned out
