3rd 721 on it's way. Need Help

My third 721 will be delivered tomorrow. Too many problems to get into.
My question: I have quite a few programs on the PVR of the defective unit. Does anyone know if I can hook it directly to an A/V imput on my monitor without any satellite connection and view these programs before I return the unit to Dish? It seems like it should work.
Any thoughts?

Yes, you don't have to have the satellite hooked up to view programs that were previously recorded to your PVR provided that your harddrive doesn't have any corrupt data on it which would make viewing the programs impossible.
