Problem with 622 and OTA reception

I live in Austin and recently got DishNetwork and VIP622 DVR. Before that I had my RCA TV top rabbit ear antenna hooked up directly to my Samsung DLP TV and was able to watch CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, ABC plus a spanish channel at full strength and crystal clear. After connecting the antenna to the DVR the scan only picks up ABC at 58% strength. None of the other channels are picked up. I reconnected the antenna directly to the TV (thinking it somehow broke) and could get ALL the off air channels without any problems. So I can't get OTA channels only when I hook it up to my DVR. I am thinking about calling the service number but figured I would post here first. Thanks for any help.

Most likely you just have a better tuner in your TV than in the 622. You may need to install a larger antenna. I put an inexpensive RS antenna in the attic and that works great. I was not able to get all the local digital channels with a set top indoor antenna and I am very close to the towers.
