I had the "Dish mover" install a couple months ago when I moved to Chicago.  I told they guy I planned to get the Dish 721 when they came out, so I would want the second input available.  He dropped the second line down from the Dish 500 dish and connected it to a 2 in /2 out switch thingie.  My 721 arrived today, I purchased an extra 75 foot cable with it.  I connected the cable and ran it along the existing cable run and tied it up with zip ties.  When I got to the hole in the wall I found out the second cable wouldn't fit.  This would not be as big a deal if the house wasn't 18" thick block walled!  I called DISH and they said "Our install only has a 90 day warranty" and "We can finish the install for $149" or something very close to this figure.  Needless to say I will be buying an 18" masonry bit tomorrow.  So, if your getting DISH installed make that installer run ALL the cables!  Tell him your buying those extra 3 receivers tomorrow.

Makes sure to keep dipping that masonry bit in water while you're drilling....don't let it get too hot.....

Did you pay the installer anything extra to run the 2nd line?

The DishMover promo is for re-installation of an existing system. In fact, it only pays the standard subsidy for installation of one rcvr which is why most installers will charge extra for multiple rcvrs or anything out of the ordinary.

So it doesn't sound like you got "poor customer service from DISH." But if you paid the installer for running the 2nd line to the location of a future connection I would say that you have a legit beef with that individual.

I'd have to go with HT on this one: it sounds like it was the installer that screwed you--at least if you paid extra.

Look on the plus side, though. Doing it yourself means there's less for a contractor to screw up :)

My only point is that is would have taken the guy and extra minute to run that second cable or at least open the hole. He used the existing hole from the cable TV.  I guess I could have told him I had the 721 in a box and still needed to unpack it :/
