View Full Version : RG6 Question, part 2: 4 cables to a 5 LNB...

Sorry to be such a novice at this... but so I don't have to repeat this project any time soon :) ...

1. 5 LNB does not equal 5 cables? Is there any reason to run extra(s) if I do not need an OTA?

2. Do I need the (solid copper) coaxial that also has the extra ground wire(s)?

Thanks!

The 5 LNB has a built-in multiswitch.

You need 4 RG6 cables from the dish.

Each cable from the dish can provide signals from transponders on any of the 5 satellites.

Please let DIRECTV install new RG6 with new connectors all the way to the dish. They will do up to 125' x 4 for free.

It is preferred to use solid copper and not the copper clad steel core.
If you want to take this to the fullest use RG6-Quad. But by no means is it required.

Thanks! That is my plan, 4 lines, RG6 quad shield, solid copper, 3GHz... still need to know if I need the cable with the added copper ground wire along side? Any reasons for that?

convenient grounding for the dish itself. Only needed from the dish to a grounding source. The rest can be without it. Or a separate ground wire can be used.
