An answer to this question will make my wife very happy.

Since the beginning of the channel mapdowns, whenever we go to HGTV on 112, we automatically tune to HDTV-HD. Since these two channels are not simulcast, how do I tune to HGTV-SD?

Two ways.
1. turn off the mapdowns
2. use the channel up/down buttons (sorry I don't know which direction)

I can now get to it by channel up and down. (The reason I couldn't before was that that channel was not listed in my personal guide. Entering "112" still goes to the HD channel.) But how would one turn mapdowns off? I've looked all the places I thought it would be.

Under channels in the locals menu and the directions tell you how to do it.

Or put the sd channel in your personal guide and take out the HD version.

Another thing you can do if you don't want to use a Favorite List or turn off mapdowns for all the HD channels that mapdown is go in and turn on channel locks and lock the mapped downed HD channels you don't want there.

Mapdowns are nice, but the problem is you have it showing HD channels only. If you have all channels or all sub showing when you hit 112 it will go to regular HGTV. I believe you press guide to switch between all channels, all sub and all HD.

Or put the sd channel in your personal guide and take out the HD version.Anoyingly enough, that does not work (unless you only up/down arrow). The receiver will still tune to channels outside of one's favorite list when one types the channel number.

The only solution I have found (other than turning off all HD mapdowns under locals) is to lock the mapdown version then hide locked channels.

I noticed 2 of my locals (KTLA channel 5 , and channel 9 in Los Angeles) are not mapping down alongside the SD channels like all of my other locals which show the HD and SD versions side by side. I am viewing "All Channels" and I can find the HD versions in another place(high number channel) but am wondering why those 2 aren't responding like the other locals - I don't have them locked or anything.

Any thoughts how to correct this.

Thanks

Bump - Anybody in the LA Market notice this problem with local Channels 9 and 11 on Dishnet(Not OTA)

That's right - You are my SoCal counterpart. We'll at least some of the audio issues we were dealing with a few months back have been resolved with firmware - Mine's been running pretty good in the audio dept with just minor hiccups.

Thanks for checking the HD mapdown issue for me(I cant remember where the HD counterparts are for 5 and 9 locals- I think they are in the 8000 range of channels(But can't figure out why they don't map down)

UPDATE - Never mind - I am lame - I realized there is no HD Version of channel 5 and 9 yet in LA Locals - The higher channel vesions I saw are SD versions as well.
