Has anyone lost channels due to a software upgrade on the model 301? What is DISH doing to correct this? I can't believe they will make ever customer affected call DISH for a re-hit. Usually this type of thing corrects itself with another upgrade or a correction to the one just spooled. I'm currently looking at a 301 with the software version of P157. According to DISH, they are spooling versions 180 and 185. I can attest to hundreds of Sky Angel customers that have a 301 loosing their channels around 4:00 and it's continuing. DISH says the links are backed up close to 3-4 hours.

Any news would be great.

I did some investigating into this issue and found that there are reports of others reporting the same problem.

I am told the problem has nothing to do with the latest software update as the problem has been reported by people still running 1.57 of the 301 software.

I am told that Echostar is looking into the problem and hope to have a solution to the problem.

Just for my own curiousody how old is your 301? And do you know if its an older Blue Smart card or one of the new Yellow Smart cards? (I have head some reports from Dealers that the ones with Yellow Smart Cards have had this problem too)

Well Glenn, it sounds like it is a good thing I don't shut off my 301 or any of my receviers very often.

John I am told the problem has NOTHING to do with the new software, you can take the update with no problems. :)

Yeah, like I really plan to do that with no concrete fix on the table. :)

The same problem COULD happen to you with your current software. :)

Again they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it. :)

I'm sure they are aware of the problem. The reported telephone traffic is evidence of that.

Being aware and having a fix are 2 different things. If as you say the problem could happen with the current software, then the problem must not be fixed and there is no need to ruffle the clouds with a new upgrade until the storm subsides.

I'm new to the Dish thing, what is Sky Angel and. how does it differ from being just a dish customer, I have a 301 with blue access card and 1.57 software and have not experienced any problems.

SkyAngelSat, our church's (Sky Angel only) 301 went down. A call to DISH and less than 2 hrs later (don't know exact time) it was working

Glad to hear it came back up that quick. It's cool your Church has Sky Angel.

Thanks everyone for the replies! All seems quiet now, not too many calls today regarding no programming on the 301, but we did get some.

I just got my 301 upgraded last night to P185. On turning the power back on I could switch channels but no audio or video would work on any channels except the banner. Powered off via remote and front panel, no luck. Removed Smart Card and reinserted it and everything was then fine.

After a weeks worth of calls to Dish (waiting for hours and hours), my 301 is still not working after their mess up.
Now today they tell me my 301 is out of warranty and I need to pay to have it fixed???
Or buy a new receiver???

DirectTV is looking really good right now!

I certainly would not take that as the final word. Ask for a supervisor and tell them it was their fault.

If you have only DISH, make the change if you want, but if you have Sky Angel, please don't go.
