View Full Version : Buffer Delay - Earl, this may be for you

When changing a channel, it takes about 20-30 seconds before the buffer starts recording. This has been the case ever since I bought my R15 in Jan 06. My Tivo starts buffering the channel immediately when the channel is changed.

Is there any plans to change when the buffer starts recording when you change a channel?

Have you tried to reboot your system?

As the buffer starts immediately on my system...

I don't think this is a common issue, as I don't recall it being posted before.

Earl,

I have rebooted the system many many times over the past year and a half of owning it. My dad and brother also have an R15 and they do the same thing. They are both on the January nation release and I am on CE 1139 from a month or so ago. All 3 are R15-500's.

I do see the buffer status bar as soon as I change the channel but it won't start recording the buffer for 20-30 seconds. I've never seen anyone post about it.

I've noticed this on my R15-500 (which I rebooted as recently as last week).

When you switch channels, you can't rewind all the way to the first image you saw when you switched. I don't think the delay is as long as 20 seconds. It is more like 8 seconds for me.

Same here. I just figured it's a quirk of the R15. I have a 300 by the way.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad it's not just me. The delay may only be 8 seconds. I was just ball parking 20-30 seconds as I've never actually timed it.

Same issue, 5-10 seconds. Channel changes immediately but the buffer does not start recording until some time has passed.
