Just wanted to give a little feedback on the upgrade.

The vip622 appearance meets the wife's standards!:)

The unit is quiet. 30 sec forward (repeats) is faster than 625.

HD is much improved on my ED monitor (480p versus 480i). SD no worse maybe slightly better - not sure.

vip622 uses the same codes (remote) as the 625.

For anyone on the fence about upgrading who has an EDTV, I recommend the upgrade based on picture improvement.

Now, when I switch to full HD, I'll be good to go.

I've heard the vip722 will be out in mid-August. Since my 625 "broke", I couldn't wait until then.

Absolutely. HD content is a significant, fantastic upgrade for those with an ED widescreen display.

I've had a Panny 42 ED commercial plasma for 4 years. After buying, I quickly upgraded to HD service with cable and the search for more HD channels, HD DVR capability, etc. has never ended.

We certainly don't want to resurrect the old ED vs. HD debate, but it is a shame if any ED owners are reluctant to add HD content because of a flawed perception that the upgrade is immaterial. Content is king.

BTW, I recently added an HD 42 consumer Pany to a secondary viewing area. PQ difference is not significant (reduced screen door effect) and, overall, I still like the old commercial display better. The old display is still in my primary area with the 622 DVR. The new display just has OTA and DVD (will eventually add second 622). If the difference had been substantial, I would have swapped displays.

Interesting. Mine is the old Panny 42 ED commercial plasma as well! 4 years sounds about right.
