I'm having a weird problem with my HR10-250. It seems like after every storm, the unit becomes unresponsive - no output, like it is turned off. But, the power light is on, and the format light is on. Completely non-responsive to any remote or front panel input. Scheduled recordings don't get done and the history says that's because the unit was off. It recovers when I cycle power. I don't think it is power related since it and everything else (i.e. signal splitter) have backup power, so it never really lost power. So far, it has always happened when I wasn't watching TV, so I've never witnessed what exactly happened. I'm suspecting that this is caused by loss of sat. signal...but, I really have no idea what is causing this. The only event I can correlate to is rain storm...and that's happened several times. If I come home and it had rained (heavily) earlier, I can almost bet that the unit is "dead" again. Any ideas?

Try forcing a signal loss by disconnecting the HR10-250's satellite cables while it's recording something. What happens?

I'm guessing that your HR10-250's hard drive is dying.

It sat there with the signal loss message until I got bored and plugged the cables back in, and the reception resumed perfectly.
