Do you know if there will be more soccer shown in HD this year ?? Other than the 1 game/week on World sports that is.

I'm not counting the MLS games. I hope ESPN starts to actually show champions league in HD instead of showing the SD version of the game on ESPN2 HD

FSC and Goal don't have HD channels correct?

I was doing a quick search and found this FAQ

Will Fox Soccer Channel be offering broadcasts in high definition (HDTV)?
FSC is exploring ways of offering some programs in high definition (HD) where rights and access to HD feeds are available.

It's not very promising but at least something. Fox Sports will need an HD channel to broadcast the games even if they get the HD feeds. Do the local Fox Sports stations have HD channels? If so FSC might give some HD games to the local channels for broadcasting.

ESPN hold the rights for the champions league and last year they showed most games in SD (not sure if they didn't want to pay extra for HD feed or there simply wasn't HD feed). I hope this year they show more games in HD since there are way more people with HDTVs now.

ESPN actually went backwards this year as far as the Champions League final. Last year (2006) they had the CL final in HD but this year it was in SD.

I saw all the semi final and final games last year and they were all SD :(

Just recently I was trying to find more information about next season's champions league and saw some posts about the same game and how good it looked in hd. I wasn't sure if it was broadcasted in HD in Europe or on a different (than ESPN2HD) channel in the US

The 2007 CL final was not broadcast in HD in the US. Whether it was in Europe I have no idea. However, the 2006 CL final was broadcast in HD by ESPN.

This article claims that the channel "The Score" shows English Premiership matches in HD in Canada. But the HD version of the channel is only carried by Rogers and Cogeco cable companies. It is not available on both of the big satellite companies - StarChoice and Bell Expressvu, but "The Score" guys are working hard to get this channel carried by satellite carriers.

It would be sweet if dish starts to carry score, but I think that's a long way away. maybe next season. I think Fox owns the premiership rights for the US anyhow, don't know how that can get resolved
