Here's my setup: My router and HR20 are in two different rooms in my house (both on the first floor). I want to run a network cable from my router to the HR20 which I can do no problem from the basement. I want to run a cable from the router to a wall jack, then a cable from the wall jack, down through the wall, along the basement ceiling, and then up through the floor behind the entertainment center and into the HR20. This I can handle fine as I've ran enough RG6 cable in the house.

My question has to do with the wall jack/plate. I stopped at Lowes and found their networking wall jacks/plates. All the RJ-45 wall plates I saw seem to only have a female plug on the room facing part of it; on the backside that goes in the wall instead of a female plug, it has a housing where you'd have to have a cable with no end and then strip the cables and connect it. I don't want to have to make any cables.

I'm looking for a RJ-45 wall plate that has a female plug on both sides so I can simply buy 2 network cables (of the right length) preassembled with ends so 1 can go from router to wall plate, and the other can then go from wall plate (through basement) to the HR20. Does anyone make this?

I went to On Q Legrand's site and found this http://homeowner.onqlegrand.com/products/F3450-WH-V1 but it's as I described: only 1 female plug.

Thanks for the help.

What you have found is normal industry wide connect practices. You will be hard pressed if not impossible to find a double female wall plate like what you want. It is reall simple to make and install the cables. You strip the wires of the outer shield and place the color matching wire in the wall plate and put the wall plate wire cover on and you are good to go. It is extremely hard to run cables through the wall with connector already on the cable.

You man need to call them to explain what you are looking for.

You also have the option of using wall plates that have just a hole in them. One large enough to allow the connector to fit through. I've done it with some other cabling and it looks fine.

I found this http://www.provantage.com/belkin-r6d011~7BELO013.htm that should work with the wall plates Lowe's has. That's probably what I'll use.
