Buffalo, NY HD Locals?

Is there anyplace I can look and find out when Buffalo, NY is slated to get HD Locals? I've been told several dates, all of which have come and gone.

I don't want to go out and buy an OTA antenna just to have Dish add locals the following week ;)

If you can get your locals via OTA then install the antenna. You will like having the sub channels plus PBS stations. If you are close enough you might be able to get away with mounting the antenna in your attic that you don't have the eye sore it can be. I picked up one at rad shack and mounted it to a wooden pole I hung from a 2x4 at the top of my roofs pitch inside the attic.

Dish is not supply all the local HD channels, just the four major networks. Even once they supply them you will have a backup in case there is a problem form one of the sources. Plus the pq is better via OTA.

Buffalo is on the 2006 list, along with 17 other markets that are still not up. Watch for postings in the weekly Uplink Activity threads and for announcements on Tech Forum, Charlie Chats, and from trade shows. Those are then included on the EKB Dish HD Locals (http://ekb.dbstalk.com/hdlocal.htm) page.

not sure where you are exactly, but I'm up in Sanborn. (kinda between Lockport and Niagara Falls). In my bedroom upstairs I am getting all buffalo HD locals with a Silver Sensor (small indoor antenna) and there are lots of other like it by Philips, Zenith, and a few others. The Grand Island towers are only about 7 miles from me here, but the main buffalo station towers are about 42 miles away.

Your mileage may vary, but for about $25 it's worth a shot and a great backup to have.
