Hello.. I've been lurking here for some time.. 1st post..
First thanks much to all you folks.. I got the $19.++ HR20-100
My question is this..
My installer did a good job, but when I asked about him running a second line to my HR10-250 that I relocated.. He said for an additional $90+ he could arrange it.. I guess I'm naive, but I thought when they said they'd relocate my old DVR they didn't mean they'd just carry it up the stairs. It seems that to relocate it, would mean that they would be responsible for making it "fully functional"
I figured ok.. I guess I can do that part on my own, but I checked and no multi switch was installed..
I found an installation guide for a multiswitch in the box, but he must have taken the darn thing with him.
Did I get shafted?
When I got my HR20 almost a year ago, it bumped my R15 to the bedroom. The installer ran the extra wire so I could use both tuners on the R15. No charge. Didn't require a multiswitch, but I think they should have done that for you for free as well.

The 5 lnb dish has four lines coming out, so you don't need an external multiswitch, unless you have more recievers than you've posted.

And in addition, they don't have to leave it with you like extra cables or as spare. I called once to ask why I was not provided one. If your installation can be completed without it, they won't provide it in advance for expansion.

I have one other.. an older Std Definition receiver D10 I think?
So.. I guess this means to get a 2nd line run to my Hr10-250 I'll either need to buy a multiswitch or pay them to do it.. yes?

Coming in here a bit late but:
You should get all of your receivers that are activated or want to be activated connected with a multi-switch if needed for free, if they don't have to fish through walls and your cable runs are under 125' each.
That's what you're supposed to get from a D* install, for free. Digging ditches for coax doesn't count, but "normal" installation does.

If your D10 and HR10 are still active, then they absolutely should have run the cable for you, and provided a multi-switch. Call D* back and explain what happened, and they should get someone out there to complete the installation at no charge. (Assuming we are talking about the "standard" cable runs, and not a bunch of wall fishing, and the like.)
Maybe one of our covert D* employees can comment on how CARLSBAD can best accomplish this?

Then they wouldn't be "covert" anymore now would they?
Back to the topic:
If you didn't get what you should have, then call D* as they DO want you to be happy and have all of your equipment working as it should.
I needed to have three or four return call within a week for them to do what they should have done the first time. All of this was free [as it should have been].
BTW: I dug my own ditch. :D
